Work Health & Safety Policy

At Metro Project Services our Occupational Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Policy is based on a belief that the well-being of people employed at work, or people affected by our work, is a major priority and must be considered during all work performed on our behalf.

People are our most important asset and their health and safety is our greatest responsibility.

The objectives of our Safety Policy

• ✓To provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health in the workplace, ensuring employees, contractors, customers and visitors understand their obligations with respect to health and safety
• ✓To comply with all state statutory requirements and industry standards
• ✓To make health and safety an integral part of every managerial and supervisory position
• ✓To ensure health and safety is considered in all planning and work activities
• ✓To ensure that communication exists between management and all workers and, where they exist, workers’ representatives
• ✓To involve our workers in decision making through regular communication, consultation and training
• ✓To provide a continuous program of education and learning
• ✓To ensure that our workers work in the safest possible manner
• ✓To identify and eliminate hazards and reduce OH&S risks in the workplace
• ✓To ensure all potential accidents and incidents are controlled and prevented
• ✓To provide effective injury management and rehabilitation for all our workers
• ✓To empower the workforce to “not walk by” — giving ownership of safety and wellbeing to our employees and management, promoting best practice in every facet of their work, and the confidence to raise concerns not only within our own team but across our colleagues and industry peers

The success of our health and safety management is dependent on proactive planning of all work activities, with due consideration given to implementing occupational health and safety (OHS) controls that are suitable to each given situation. Workers also have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others affected by their actions at work, and to comply with safety procedures and directions.

In order to attain the highest level of safety in our operations, Metro Project Services has developed and implemented a Safety Management System that complies with the safety management standard ISO 45001:2018. Metro Project Services is committed to continual improvement of the OH&S management system, including complying with relevant OHS legislation and with other requirements placed upon the organisation or to which Metro Project Services subscribes.

The Safety Management System is defined in documented management procedures, which provide clear standards and guidelines in all the appropriate areas of the company’s activities.

All Metro Project Services personnel are required to work towards the fulfilment of the Safety Management System, and management will regularly review this policy, and the other elements of the system, in order to maintain its suitability and effectiveness.
